Community Projects - Grants to District Support

Avilla Community Garden - Grants to District supporting the community garden highlights different growing techniques, including aquaponics, and brings the community together through hands-on learning and shared experiences.

Pediatrics Plus - Grants to District provided "The Farm" by Pediatrics Plus a greenhouse which encourages and engages children with hands-on gardening.

River Trash Trap - Grants to District has awarded the funding to build a river trash trap. We are working with partners to construct a trash trap. Once installed in the stream, it is estimated to average collecting 16 pounds of trash debris every 3 weeks.

Specialty Programs and Partnerships

Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) - The NRCS has numerous programs offering technical and/or financial assistance to producers and landowners in the county and across the nation. An example program includes the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) which provides financial assistance to help plan and implement conservation practices that address natural resource concerns and for opportunities to improve soil, water, plant, animal, air and related resources on agricultural land and non-industrial private forestland. Other programs include Conservation Stewardship Program and the Emergency Watershed Protection Program which is offered through the conservation district and the NRCS. To see if you qualify or to learn more about these programs, call our area NRCS District Conservationist, Cody Harrington, at 501-337-7381, ext. 3 or the Saline County Conservation District's Secretary, Jenny Lanier, at 501-778-2251.

Saline River Watershed Alliance (SWRA) - Working in partnership with the Saline River Watershed Alliance, we are able to focus on future projects to protect and restore rivers, riparian lands, wetlands, and other natural resources through targeted revegetation and ecological restoration across both rural and urban areas.

Arkansas Department of Agriculture Natural Recourses Division (NRD) - Through the NRD of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, we are able to provide Grants to District, Groundwater Conservation Tax Credits, Beaver Eradication Program, Nutrient Management Plans, and more.
